Our top 20 entrepreneurs from Johannesburg were selected through a tough grading system from multiple members of the review committee. The bootcamp took place at Standard Bank’s Incubator, in Rosebank.
That day’s review committee was bold and fit with experienced business minds: Industry expert Sasha Muller, Sonwabile Ndamase from Vukani Fashions, Nomonde Zulu from Gauteng Enterprise Propellor, Ravi Naidoo from Blue Fields Investment and Helen Buhrs from Inscape.
Once presentations were done, participants embarked on this battle of the fittest. From negotiations, management accounting to sales and marketing challenges. We wanted to see their entrepreneurial skills in action.
Johannesburg participants showed their undeniable creativity throughout the bootcamp. More specifically during the sales and marketing challenge: ‘Sell your product’.
We all know complete novices can become an average seller with the basic notions & sales training. But the best salespeople, are those with the right mindset. It’s about how they fundamentally identify with their sales process and products. That’s why #ThreadsBySB challenge was designed to put our entrepreneurs in a real-life marketing situation. We wanted to see how they would evaluate a product, look for its positive aspect, sell and speak confidently to an audience. For this speaking activity, the participants had to be able to think on their feet in order to sell ice to an Eskimo and more!
